Laying Down Digital Roots: Building an Online Presence for Logie Timber

Logie Timber

There are 5.16 billion internet users in the world; roughly 64.4% of the world’s total population – a number that continues to grow day by day.

Of course, it’s quite impossible to reach all 5.16 billion, but with the right skills and the online know-how, you can make yourself known to those who matter most.

That’s what the team at Logie Timber hoped to achieve when they approached Planit Scotland in October 2022 – to build an online presence that would get them recognised by all the right people.

Time to #JustAskPlanit

Part of Logie Steading in Forres, Logie Timber provides sustainable wood sourcing and cutting services for a range of clients. Embracing the virtuous sustainable timber production cycle, the company provides decking, cladding and treatment solutions for a range of projects – big and small.

When Logie Timber first approached Planit Scotland, we were tasked to redesign the company’s existing website and create a stronger online presence using online ads and SEO.

Mark Councill, founder of Logie Timber, said: “Before Planit Scotland, we had an in-house staff member who was responsible for the company’s website. However, web design was not her strongest skill and unfortunately the website had its problems.

“With work keeping us busy and with no time to focus our attention on the website, it was clear that we needed to find a specialist team to resolve and manage our online presence – along with all our other marketing needs.

“After some trial and error – approaching other independent marketing agencies to take on the challenge, but failing to find one that could do it all – we found Planit Scotland.”

The seeds of change: building brand awareness

The goal for Team Planit was to create a website that could host an online store; would give expert advice on all aspects of timber selection and management; and enhance brand awareness in the digital world.

Cue our web design wizard, Bart.

“Bart was incredible; absolutely amazing!” continued Mark.

“Every single brief and every design idea we brought to him, he nailed every time. He is incredibly skilled at what he does. He has completely brought our vision to life!”

Much to the delight of Mark and his team, within six months of launching the new website, Logie Timber saw a 40% increase in users and a 55% increase in session times.

Adding to this, the addition of a new online store has seen a 20% rise in transactions through the website, with an overall online revenue increase of 272.66%.

“When we added Shopfiy to our system, we also introduced a new team member to manage it, with Richard at Planit Scotland helping us to navigate its features – including setting us weekly tasks to keep us on track.

“That’s what is so great about Planit Scotland – the team encourages me and my own team to take accountability, including helping us to upskill our in-house staff with copywriting training.

“It’s so easy for us to get caught up and lost in our work, but with Team Planit giving us the odd nudge here and there, it’s a big help to us. It keeps us on track; it keeps us alert; and it keeps us moving forward with our business.

“With monthly reporting calls, everything is kept in order. We get 100% transparency from the team. With their time tracking measures, it allows us to see exactly what is being spent and where – it blows my mind how straightforward it all is. Everything that this team does is mapped out in front of you – it all makes sense and is just easy.”

Why choose Planit Scotland?

One of the big reasons that Logie Timber chose to work with Team Planit, was the ability to have everything under the one roof!

“With Planit Scotland, it’s simple. You send one email to one person and before you know it you have the latest SEO-optimised web copy, Google Analytics report and a new online ad set up.

“The team just goes the extra mile. If they can help you and your business in any way, they will do it. And if I’m being honest, I can’t think of any reason not to recommend this team.”

We see a busy but bright future ahead for Team Planit and Logie Timber, and with an exciting new project close to completion for the Logie team – it’s all hush hush for now – it’s sure to keep Planit Scotland on its toes. We’re thinking plenty more web copy, some exciting PR opportunities and an ever-growing SEO influenced online presence… and so much more.

If you want to build your online presence or revamp your business’ website, all you have to do is #JustAskPlanit.
